NWLH use the Patient Content Store for two key organisational objectives: To create discharge summaries for every inpatient stay, including medication on discharge (TTA) with pharmacy dispensing. To ensure timely production of outpatient clinical correspondence (including GP letters, letters to other organisations involved in patient care and onward referrals). The clinical data captured in this way then forms part of a detailed online clinical record (similar to that provided by a specialty-specific clinical information system) and is also post-processed for submission to clinical audit datasets including:
Launched in 2006, the NWLH system has been designed for high-volume usage and to provide clinicians with a complete view of inpatient and outpatient care across all specialties. To simplify usage and to save re-keying data, facilities include integration with PAS clinic lists, Pathology Results, Imaging and NUANCE speech recognition for clinical notes dictation. |
